Maupiti – The Hidden Gem At The Tail of French Polynesia

Officially we’ve left French Polynesia (don’t let the gendarmes know otherwise), but we’ve stopped off at Maupiti on the way out (and we may stop at Mopelia in a few days as well). The first night we anchored down near the pass and went swimming the next morning with the manta rays. Wish we had some photos, but the visibility was only 5-10′ (I guess that’s why the rays are there, they are plankton feeders after all). But we did get to swim with them and see them up close and personal.

Yesterday we took a trek around the island.

And today Erika and I climbed to the top (early, before it got too warm) and took in the view.
