After spending more time in Brisbane than we anticipated (turns out we know more people in Australia than we knew we knew:)) we headed out to Moreton Bay. Our first stop was out near Tangalooma, but it wasn’t too comfortable so the next day we headed down to North Stradbroke Island (Straddie) and did the tourist stuff. We also spent a little more time there than we expected, no sooner had we arrived than a northerly system decided to sit on top of us for several days – and given that we wanted to head north…. It gave us a couple of extra days to visit with our friend Simon. He came out one day on the ferry, and we took the ferry in our last day at Straddie and he ran us around for some final errands (thanks Simon!!).

The Gorge Walk at Lookout Point – glad we didn’t bring the boat in here.

We went out to the lookout at the NE corner of the island and encountered our first ‘roo of the trip (I know the Aussies don’t think that’s much of a big deal, but it is the iconic animal and all of us visitors want to see one).

Whatcha lookin’ at?
